Bro Morris Bentley reports, Photo: Gordon Beasley (left), Captain Kevin Jones, Steve Martin (right)
Played in warm weather over the Ver Course, the yellow tees at 648 yards with a Par 70 offers one of the sternest tests of golf in the county.
Steve Martin managed to get Nearest the Pin on the 4th hole, 143 yards with a Stroke Index of 18; and followed this up with Nearest the Pin in Two on the 15th Hole, 360 yards with a SI of 15. The Longest Drive was won by Choo on the 12th.
For the Stableford Competition, in third place was Anil Dhiri with 34 points and playing off 18.1 WHS, Runner-Up was Gordon Beasley with 36 points playing off a 15.5 handicap, and the Winner of the Captain’s Day Glass Trophy was Steve Martin who came in with 38 points off 24.0 WHS! Steve looks forward to being cut no less than three shots on his next outing with the Society next year!
The Captain’s Cup for the Lowest Gross Score went to Gordon Beasley with a very creditable Gross 85. We are delighted, as this is the first time that Gordon has won a trophy with the Society despite being one of our Founders in 2010.
